Shellac-Buster; Carburetor Varnish and Shellac
Cleaner
The Shellac-Buster is a great chemical for the removal of Varnish, Shellac,
Rust, Paint, Oil, Grease, and Dirt off of carburetors and engines.
Shellac-Buster is a concentrated semi-aqueous, micro-emulsion solution.
It can be used as a pre-wash chemical to remove oil, grease, corrosion and rust,
and residue from metal parts. Also, Shellac-Buster is an excellent choice for removing heavy
oil and water-based paints, ink, and adhesives.
Small engine, vintage cars and motor cycle engine mechanics, including Brian
Sims the owner of www.manxmotors.com, who have been seeing
a major influx in business over the past few years, ever since the state started
mandating ethanol in the gasoline sold in Michigan.
Ethanol, often made from corn sugars, is a colorless alcohol fuel that makes up
10 percent of the product dispensed at gasoline pumps.
Ethanol makes a mess of small motors, such as the lawn mowers, snow blowers,
trimmers, chain saws and leaf blowers for shop services.
”It's driving us crazy,” said Brian. “Now it's to the point that seven to eight
machines out of 10 that we service have fuel issues.”
Ethanol messes with smaller engines like snow blowers, lawn mowers, motorcycles
and vintage cars because of its tendency to attract moisture over time, local
mechanics said. The result is that carburetors get clogged with a crusty film
that must be cleaned out if gas is left in the machine too long - and, in some
cases, the carburetor must be replaced entirely.
”The fuel goes bad quickly,” Brian said. “It turns into varnish and shellac in
the carburetor and the Shellac-Buster does a great job in cleaning it.”
If left over a long period, gasoline, oil and ethanol will start separating from
one another in the gas tank and the whole carburetor body of a smaller motor
will start corroding, mechanics said. With oil sinking to the bottom, the engine
may not get proper lubrication, he said.
The Sharpertek Shellac-Buster has proven itself in hundreds of applications, by
removing powder coatings, e-coatings, epoxy systems, oil & water based paints,
adhesives, inks and petroleum based products. Turpentine products will not
harm alloys such as steel, aluminum, copper, magnesium, brass, and most
plastic substrates and rubber.
The Shellac-Buster chemical never dies! You can use the
Shellac-Buster chemical forever by either adding more to it when it evaporates
or by alternating by adding water. When it gets dirty you can clean it by
straining it in a cheese cloth.
